Kristen Barrow is a bilingual (Spanish-English) immigration attorney and consultant located in Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in May 2018 and has been a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Louisville Bar Association since the fall of 2018. Kristen is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division and the Civil Rights and Social Justice Division. Kristen most recently honed her practice and gained experience on family-based petitions, humanitarian visas (VAWA, U, and T visas), and removal defense as an associate with the Law Office of Dennis M. Clare. In her own practice, her goal is to grow in her capacity to assist individuals and families to access relief through the immigration system.
While at the Brandeis School of Law, Kristen focused her academic and practical experiences primarily on immigration law. She was a law clerk for an immigration law firm in Louisville, where she gained first-hand experience in how to successfully complete various types of immigration processes. She was also a fellow with the Brandeis Human Rights Advocacy Program at the Brandeis School of Law, where she advocated for immigrant rights. Through the fellowship, she helped to publish a report of legal research that impacts the noncitizen, immigrant, and refugee population (‘The Right of Significant Language Access for Limited English Proficiency Individuals’). In the Spring of 2017, Kristen received a CALI Award for Excellence for the Future for her academic achievement in Immigration Law.
During her time in law school, Kristen was a volunteer at the Boone County Detention Center with the National Immigration Justice Center, with Catholic Charities of Louisville, with the Kentucky Refugee Ministries, an interpreter for the La Casita Center legal clinics, and volunteer with the Maxwell Street wage-claim clinics in Louisville.
In her free time, Kristen likes to read and spend time with her two children, Warren and Julienne, at the Speed Art Museum or at the Louisville Science Center.
Her office doors are always open to discuss your options in the U.S. Immigration System. You can also reach her by email at kristenmbarrow@gmail.com.
